I was really looking forward to my stay at the Wood Hotel, because the concept of a tower made from wood just sounded amazing - and it was looking very cozy, as well.
In reality, I was immediately a little..."irritated" upon arrival. When I looked on Google Earth, the surrounding area looked quite peaceful. But the satellite images are heavily outdated. There is a Highway "now" right in front of the hotel and a huge parking space. So the area in front of the hotel felt more like a Highway Truck stop and less like a "relaxing vacation next to a lake".
Unfortunately, you can "feel" this Truck Stop/Highway atmosphere even in your Hotel Room (at least, if it's a corner room to the north-west). The windows aren't that thick and you hear the highway noise. But also, at night there were quite a few car-posers, who let their engines roar. There also was a guy with his motorbike, trying to do some tricks on the empty parking space (again, at night).
The room's walls are quite thin in general. When someone around or above you has children, you WILL notice.
The Breakfast was mostly average. This doesn't mean it was bad, but just not very special either. I noticed that the slices of cheese or salmon were sticking together in a way that made it hard to pick up anything.
So in the end - and I'm really sorry to say this - the Hotel feels more like an average motel and less like this amazing and relaxing experience, a sustainable tower made from wood next to a lake might promise.
Everything was excellent…… until breakfast…… all the so-called warm food was ice cold as if fresh out of the fridge or the Hotplate was set to chill instead of warm. On informing the staff nothing much happened, very disappointed for the cost it would have been nice to have warm fried eggs and bacon 🥓
Lovely time in Brumunddal at the Wood hotel next to the biggest lake in Norway. The staff was nice and helpful, rooms super clean and with everything u need. In the morning between 7 am and 10am there is a continental buffet breakfast, and the food is always fresh and delicious. I really do recommend this hotel. Is a strategically place between the city centre and the lake.
Beautiful hotel with incredible views from the roof; it has a bar, restaurant, terrace and free wi-fi.
The service was impeccable, and the wooden design blew me away.
If you are passionate about swimming in one of the largest lakes in Norway, you better not miss the opportunity.
Enjoy the use of wood - this place is brilliant. Good staff, good food and magnificent construction, brilliant. Save the planet, build with wood.
Really friendly staff. We didn't get to use the community swimming pool as the local kids were having their swimming lesson. Dinner was excellent; breakfast was fantastic; views from bedroom on 9th floor & 18th floor roof terrace were stunning. Love the Rituals bath products and rain shower. Though there weren't any shops within walking distance, the hotel had a small one selling Rituals products, reindeer sausage and other snacks at the reception. Overall 👍.
First of all, the room was very nice and the personal was friendly. We slept very well and we enjoyed the amazing view over the lake.
But why only three stars.
The breakfast doesn’t match with the modern style of the hotel. It was very chaotic and the choices are sparse. If you want to be a modern hotel, it needs a modern breakfast. And also it is not acceptable for that hotel price, that I have to pay an extra fee for cafe latte or cappuccino. Even in cheaper hotels this is for free.
And another star is gone, we can not feel that the hotel is run with “love”, like I wrote already, everyone was friendly, but this not everything, it feels cold, there was the missing passion for this kind of extra ordinary hotel.
It's a very special hotel built by wood! Really amazing, the room is cozy and comfortable, the staff are very nice and help me store my birthday cake in the fridge.😁 In addition, you could see the nice lake outside ans have a nice morning running, and the enjoy a richful breakfast in the hotel.
I would highly recommend to experience this highest timer building in Norway.
